Mt. Longonot National Park Travel
Mt. Longonot is a composite volcano with an altitude of 2780 metre rising steeply from the floor of the Great Rift Valley some 60 kilometers northwest of Nairobi along near Naivasha. It is a favourite trekking destination with both locals and tourists mostly starting their journey at Nairobi. The trek is about 13.5 kilometers to and fro and takes on average about 3 to 4 hours. Spectacular views of the rift valley await climbers at the top. It has a circular 7.2 km caldera whose vegetation is a forest of shrubs and small trees.
There’s not much wildlife but climbers will encounter zebras, dik-diks, buffalo, giraffe and hartebeest.
