Tarangire National Park is often overlooked but offers one of the most rewarding safari experiences in Tanzania. Dominated by massive baobab trees and traversed by the Tarangire River, the park supports incredible concentrations of wildlife, especially during the dry season.
Its landscapes are intimate and diverse — rolling hills, swamps, acacia woodland — and the park is a stronghold for elephants, with herds numbering in the hundreds. Birdwatchers will find paradise here, with over 550 species recorded.
*Fact: Tarangire has Tanzania’s largest elephant population relative to size.*
